Creighton Baseball Faces Omaha on Tuesday

Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Baseball squad begins its final home stretch of the 2022 season as the Bluejays face Omaha in the final mid-week battle of the season on Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 pm.

Series History with Omaha (58-33)
Creighton holds a significant edge on its neighbor, taking 58 of 91 meetings. The Mavericks, however, have claimed the last two battles and three of the last five.
Since Omaha jumped into Division I, the two teams have met 19 times with Creighton holding a 13-6 advantage.

Similar to the Bluejays, the last week wasn't kinds to Omaha as the Mavericks lost three of their last four games, all at home.
Mike Boeve (.366) and Jack Lombardi (.309) lead the UNO offense, entering Tuesday hitting .250 as a team.
On the mound the Mavericks sport a 4.39 ERA with 375 strikeouts and 188 walks in 389.2 innings.

The Bluejays battled the BIG EAST's leader step-for-step in three consecutive games, but came up just short each time.
Each game was turned by a crucial misstep from Creighton. On Sunday an error in the second opened the door for the Huskies to score four unearned runs. Saturday saw two defensive errors and a critical wild pitch factor in the Huskies' pushing across the game-winning run in the eighth.
The star of the weekend was Friday starter Dylan Tebrake. Despite taking the loss, Tebrake was the first Bluejay of the season to notch double-digit strikeouts with a career-high 13 and the first Creighton pitcher to post a complete-game.

Omaha dropped an important series to the Jackrabbits, who are currently one step behind the Mavericks in the Summit League standings. The difference in the series was the Maverick bullpen on as South Dakota State outscored Omaha 11-5 from the sixth inning on.
Friday saw South Dakota State plate two in the seventh to take the lead and tack on one in the eighth for the 5-2 win. Omaha built an 8-2 early lead on Saturday and coasted to the victory. The rubber game saw SDSU plate two runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth to take the series.

Tebrake was Superb in Loss at #15 Connecticut, Grabbing Third Honor Roll Spot of 2022
Bluejay ace Dylan Tebrake claimed his third BIG EAST Honor Roll Spot on Monday, May 9 as the right-hander's dominance against #15 Connecticut was recognized.
Tebrak became Creighton's first pitcher to toss a complete game as well as the first to post double-digit strikeouts since the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament, recording a career-high 13 strikeouts in an eight-inning loss to #15 Connecticut on Friday, May 6. The Bluejay ace allowed seven hits and three runs during the battle of top teams, walking just two.
The last time both feats occurred was on May 29, 2021 by Jonah Smith in the BIG EAST Tournament against the same Connecticut Huskies.
