Men’s Tennis Claims Seven Singles Wins During First Day of Omaha Invite

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men's tennis team opened play at the Omaha Invite with seven singles victories on Saturday at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
The Bluejays finished the morning session with a 3-3 split with Nebraska-Kearney, before finishing the afternoon session with four wins over North Dakota.
Sophomore Kirtan Patel opened the day with a 6-3, 6-7, 10-7 three-set win over UNK's Adam Palecek, before claiming a 6-4, 6-3 straight sets win over UND's Jerall Yasin at the top single position.
Sophomore Yuma Daijima also finished the day with a perfect 2-0 record. The Tokyo, Japan native captured a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win over UNK's Andy Brisdon in the morning session before cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 win over UND's Jayho Hong in the afternoon at the No. 5 singles position.
Senior Shin Inoue rallied from a one set deficit to claim a 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 three-set win over UNK's Jip Mens, while junior Ethan Neil claimed a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over UND's Ethan Terry. Sophomore Zachary Kuo would then close out the first day of competition with a thrilling 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 three-set victory over UND's Kevin Koua at the No. 2 singles position.
The Omaha Invite resumes on Sunday morning with a pair of doubles matches against Omaha, Nebraska-Kearney and North Dakota.
