Ronsiek Matches Her Number with 31 as #20 Bluejays Best Bulldogs, 89-78

Des Moines, Iowa -- Senior Emma Ronsiek delivered a career-high 31 points to lead No. 20 Creighton to an 89-78 win at Drake on Sunday, December 17.
The win pushed the Bluejays to 8-2 on the season, while Drake fell to 6-4 overall.
Down 5-3 early Ronsiek got things going early with six points to ignite a 10-0 run for the Bluejays to vault out to a 13-5 edge (4:26). Creighton went on to close the frame with six straight to take a 19-10 lead into the second.
Drake charged into the second quarter to pull even at 19-19 (7:19), only to watch Creighton respond with consecutive treys from seniors Jamie Horan and Morgan Maly, followed by a short jumper by Maly to push the Bluejays back in front 27-19 (5:23). Holding a 32-24 advantage moments later, senior Lauren Jensen connected on consecutive treys. After a driving layup from Maly the Bluejays held their largest edge at 40-24 (1:50) and took a 40-28 lead in at the half.
The offense went into overdrive in the third quarter as the Bulldogs scored 31 in the frame, while Creighton had 30. The Bluejays shot 68.4 percent in the quarter, knocking down 13-of-17 from the field. Drake, meanwhile, hit 11-of-17 (64.7) including four-of-five from long range. Despite the scoring frenzy, Creighton maintained at least a nine-point advantage.
The final frame saw the Bluejays push their lead to as much as 17 (78-61) with 7:35 remaining.
Ronsiek's 31 points led all scorers, while Jensen closed the game with 22 points. Maly rounded out Creighton's trio in double figures with 19 points. Drake got a team-high 25 points from Katie Dinnebier, while Anna Miller and Grace Berg finished with 15 and 14 points respectively.
Creighton returns to action on Thursday, December 21 as the Bluejays host South Dakota State in a 6:00 p.m. tip.
