Flanery vs. Georgetown
Flanery is 16-4 against the Hoyas and is 10-2 against current Georgetown head coach James Howard.
Scouting Georgetown (12-14, 5-12 BIG EAST)
The Hoyas come to Omaha having dropped four straight and five of their last six.
Overall Georgetown is 4-7 on the road this season, including 2-6 in road BIG EAST contests.
The offensive leaders for the Hoyas are Kelsey Ransom (13.0 ppg) and Kennedy Fauntleroy (11.8 ppg).
In the first meeting with Creighton on January 28, Ransom delivered 24 points and nine rebounds to spark a fourth quarter comeback.
Ultimately the Bluejays earned the victory, but the Hoyas pressure caused Creighton to commit 10 turnovers in the fourth quarter alone.
Scouting Creighton (18-7, 12-5 BIG EAST)
Returning home after a bitter loss to #6 Connecticut, the Bluejays will need to respond to the challenge presented by the Hoyas. Â
The trio of Lauren Jensen, Morgan Maly and Emma Ronsiek lead Creighton's scoring attack with a combined 44.9 ppg.
Creighton however will need production from fellow starters Rachael Saunders and Molly Mogensen as well as contributions from the bench on Saturday.
Keys To the Game on Saturday, February 18
Rebounding: Creighton won the battle on the glass in Washington 40-28, but rebounding and second chance points are always critical against the Hoyas.
Ball Security: Georgetown forced Creighton into 10 fourth quarter turnovers and will likely try to use a press more in Omaha.
Depth: Coach Flanery expressed some concern that fatigue was a factor down the stretch in the first meeting. Getting a few extra minutes and contributions from the bench could elevate this.
Bluejays Learning With Each Meeting
In BIG EAST play, against the seven teams that the Bluejays have completed the two-game season series, Flanery's squad has proven to perform better the second go around.
In the first matchup the Bluejays went 4-3, scoring 67.8 ppg to an opposing 64.1 ppg. In the second matchup, the Bluejays have gone 5-2, scoring an improved 70.7 ppg while allowing just 63.8 ppg.
Bachelor and Saunders Begin Final Stretch
Seniors Carly Bachelor and Rachael Saunders head into their final two home games as Bluejays on February 18 at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Bachelor and Saunders have seen Creighton through a bit of everything. Each has been a starter
(Bachelor - 56 games, Saunders - 37 games) and come off the bench. And each has played critical roles in the Bluejays success.

Bluejays Push #6 Connecticut to the Brink
While every loss leaves a bitter taste, the loss at #6 Connecticut could propel Creighton higher than others. The Bluejays pushed the perennial powerhouse to the brink on its home floor, falling 62-60. The Huskies benefited from bounces off the ball down the stretch, a missed free throw in the closing moments, a lost pass in the lane and a blocking call that went Connecticut's way.
What the Bluejays certainly gained is the knowledge that Creighton can compete with a team picked to be a No. 1 seed in March on its home floor.
