Baseball Falls 4-3 to Cal State Northridge in Series Finale

Northridge, Calif. -- Despite a pinch-hit two-run home run from senior Jack Grace, Creighton Baseball fell to Cal State Northridge in the series finale 4-3 on Sunday, March 5.
Creighton fell to 4-5 following Sunday's action, while CSUN moved to 7-2.
Down 1-0 entering the third Creighton pulled even with a two out walk to grad transfer Ben Gbur. The Ohio native went to second via a wild pitch, then raced home on a double to left-center.
The Matadors reclaimed the advantage in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run blast by shortstop Ali Camarillo, then added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Camarillo.
Creighton drew closer in the top of the seventh as freshman Ben North laced a leadoff single up the middle. With two down in the frame, Grace was called upon to pinch-hit for freshman Tate Gillen. Grace blasted a 3-2 pitch over the left field wall to make it 4-3.
Cal State Northridge starter Kenji Pallares earned the win (2-0), limiting Creighton to three runs on six hits over six innings. Closer Joshua Romero worked a scoreless ninth for his second save of the season. Bluejay starter Anthony Watts took the loss (0-1), allowing four runs on four hits in 5.1 innings.
The Bluejays return to the diamond on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (CT) at Omaha in a mid-week clash.
