Teams will resume contest on May 9th in Omaha
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball's nationally-televised game at Nebraska was suspended in the bottom of the 7th inning of a tie game on Tuesday, April 18th.
The game was tied 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but the Cornhuskers had loaded the bases with no outs with Gabe Swansen scheduled to bat.
The teams will resume the game with Swansen hitting prior to the playing of the final scheduled regular-season meeting of the in-state rivals on May 9th at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, with details regarding a resumption time and ticket information still to be worked out.
Creighton never trailed during Tuesday's contest, taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning on second baseman Andrew Meggs' first home run of the season. The Bluejays pushed their advantage to 3-0 an inning later when Sterling Hayes singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Ben Gbur's double.
Nebraska countered with a solo homer by Casey Burnham to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning, only to have CU answer with an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning as Tyler Lozano reached on a two-out error and scored on Nolan Clifford's double.
The Huskers closed within one when Brice Matthews atoned for his error in the top of the inning with a two-run blast to left-center, making it 4-3. NU's Efry Cervantes doubled with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, then scored the tying run when Cole Evans singled to right.
As has become the custom for midweek games, the teams combined to use 10 pitchers prior to the delay,
