Men’s Tennis Soars To Sweep of Doane on Senior Day

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men's tennis team soared to a 7-0 senior day sweep over Doane on Sunday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center.
The Bluejays improved to 11-4 overall and 6-1 record at home with the victory, while Doane fell to 7-11 overall.
Senior Casey Ross and junior Matthew Lanahan teamed up for a 6-1 victory at the top doubles position, while freshman Zachary Kuo and graduate transfer Oscar Alvarez combined for a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot to earn the first point of the match. Freshman Kirtan Patel and junior Zack Maline finished out doubles play with a 7-6 (7-4) win at the No. 3 doubles spot to give the Bluejays a 1-0 lead.
The Bluejays continued their winning ways, earning wins at all six single positions in straight sets.
Alvarez got the Bluejays started with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 singles spot, while senior Ricky Rubio claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 5 slot for his third win of the season.
Sophomore Ethan Neil then picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory on the No. 6 singles court to clinch the overall dual for the Bluejays.
Junior Shin Inoue quickly claimed a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the No. 3 singles position, while sophomore Alejandro Gandini captured his 10th straight singles victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 2 slot to give Creighton a 6-0 lead.
Ross closed out the home portion of the schedule with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the top singles position to secure the sweep.
The Bluejays will play their final four match of the regular season on the road, starting with a match at Oral Roberts on Saturday, April 8 at 11 a.m. Creighton will also take on Tulsa on April 8 at 5 p.m. in Oklahoma.
