Women's Basketball Sending a Squad to Compete in 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals

Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Creighton Women's Basketball will be sending the quartet of juniors Lauren Jensen (Lakeville, Minn.) Morgan Maly (Crete, Neb.), Molly Mogensen (Farmington, Minn.) and Emma Ronsiek (Sioux Falls, S.D.) to compete in the 2023 USA Basketball 3X Nationals at Reid Arena on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs on May 5-7.
The Bluejay quartet led Creighton to the 2022 Elite Eight as well as a trip to the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Jensen led Creighton with 500 points (16.1 ppg) during the 2023 season, including 68 three-pointers. Maly was just a small step back with 454 points (14.6 ppg) and led the Bluejays with 69 treys. Meanwhile Ronsiek and Mogensen ranked third and fourth with 410 points (13.2 ppg) and 217 points (7.0 ppg) respectively.
In addition to leading the Bluejays in scoring, the quartet were Creighton's top four rebounders and three of the top four distributors. Maly led Creighton with 191 rebounds (6.2 rpg), while Ronsiek grabbed 164 (5.3 rpg). Jensen and Mogensen tied for the team lead with 107 assists.
The event will feature up to 16 women's teams and 12 men's teams, including some of the best 3x3 players in the country, vying for national titles.
"We are excited for the return of USA Basketball 3X Nationals to Colorado Springs," said Jim Tooley, USA Basketball CEO. "This event serves as a great opportunity for athletes to be evaluated for various USA Basketball 3x3 national teams and elevates awareness of this emerging and unique style of basketball."Â
3X Nationals will tip off May 5 with preliminary round games and will continue through the weekend with preliminary and medal round games. Teams will be seeded based on preliminary records before entering bracket play. Game action is set to stream live on Saturday and Sunday on USA Basketball's website, usab.com, and YouTube.com/USABasketball. 3X Nationals is open to the public. An impressive lineup of NCAA Division I women's programs are expected to field teams at 3X Nationals, including Creighton, Duke, Gonzaga, Indiana, Maryland, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Seton Hall, St. John's, Tennessee, UCLA, Utah and Villanova.

Among the men's teams set to compete are reigning champions Team Harlem and respective 2022 silver and bronze medalists 3BALL Omaha and 3BALL Nebraska.
3X Nationals will serve as an evaluation for selection to various 2023 USA Basketball 3x3 men's and women's national teams, including the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, set for May 30-June 4 in Vienna, Austria, and roster spots for USA Basketball World Tour, Women's Series and U21 and U23 Nations League teams.
