Bluejays take 13th place in Columbia, Mo.
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Eleanor Hudepohl tied for 10th place to help the Creighton women's golf team to a 13th place finish at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Wednesday in Columbia, Mo.
Hudepohl shot rounds of 71, 75 and 71 for a 217 total, and is now 2-under par for the season after six rounds. The junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, birdied five of her first nine holes on Monday and ended up with a birdie on tournament-leading 16-of-54 holes in the event. Wednesday marked her 10th straight top-13 finish, and her 217 aggregate total is tied for the third-best mark in the program's last 20 years at a 54-hole event. Lastly, Hudepohl's 10 career rounds of par or better are a program record, one more than former teammate Katherine Lemke's nine from 2020-22.
Creighton's next three finishers were all freshmen playing in their second career tournament.
Annie Dawson tied for 54th with loops of 80, 77 and 75, just ahead of Katharine Marshall's 235 total (75-81-79) that tied her for 60th place. Karsen Morrison tied for 67th place with scores of 81, 80 and 80.
Rounding out the Bluejay lineup was sophomore Annika Yturralde, who placed 72nd overall after scores of 78, 83 and 84. The La Mesa, Calif., native birdied three of her initial 10 holes on Monday to start with promise, only to produce just three more birdies the rest of the event.
The 13-team event was won by Lipscomb (286-281-293=860), which edged host Missouri (294-278-290) by two shots. Lipscomb also brought home the individual title with scores of 68, 71 and 70 for a two shot victory over Mizzou's Melanie Walker (72-69-70=211). There were 73 competitors in the women's field.
The tournament was held on The Club at Old Hawthorne, which measured 6,264 yards on its par 72 layout.
The Bluejays return to the course next week when it hosts the Big O Classic at Oak Hills Country Club. Twelve teams will play 36 holes on Monday starting at 9 a.m., followed by 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
