Norah Sis and Kendra Wait both selected
OMAHA, Neb. -- Two seniors within the Creighton Volleyball program were selected in the Pro Volleyball Federation Draft on Monday. Norah Sis was the third overall section by the Orlando Valkyries, while Kendra Wait was chosen 37th overall by the defending league champion Omaha Supernovas.
Creighton was one of nine schools with multiple women selected in the 40-player draft.
Sis is a three-time All-American outside hitter from Papillion, Neb. She was named Volleyball Magazine's National Freshman of the Year in 2021 and BIG EAST Player of the Year in 2022. She's a three-time Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year selection and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the BIG EAST Tournament in 2021 and 2022. She ranks fourth in Bluejay history with 1,592 kills and also owns 1,022 digs and 104 service aces. She currently ranks second in the BIG EAST in kills per set and points per set, third in aces per set and ninth in hitting percentage.
Sis was the third pick in the first round, as only Nebraska's Merritt Beason (Atlanta Vibe) and Louisville's Anna DeBeer (Indy Ignite) were selected before her.
Wait is leading the BIG EAST in assists for a fourth straight season and is one of 14 semifinalists for the AVCA National Player of the Year Award. She ranks 11th in the country in assists per set and is also fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks per set in conference play. The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year and BIG EAST Setter of the Year, Wait was also named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American in 2023. The Gardner, Kan., native ranks second in CU history with 4,742 career assists, third with 1,410 career digs and owns a Bluejay record 71 double-doubles.
Wait was the fifth pick of the fifth and find round, going No. 37 overall.
Since Wait and Sis arrived on campus, Creighton is 114-16, the nation's third-most wins in the past four years. Both women figure to be named All-BIG EAST on Tuesday, which would have them join Tara Oltman, Doug McDermott and Jaali Winters as the only student-athletes in Creighton history to be named First Team All-Conference four times.
No. 5 Creighton (27-2, 18-0 BIG EAST) will host the BIG EAST Tournament, Presented by JEEP, beginning on Wednesday at D.J. Sokol Arena. The Bluejays will be the top seed in the event and have a bye to the semifinals, where it will meet the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal between No. 5 St. John's and No. 4 DePaul on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The other side of the bracket features No. 6 Villanova meeting No. 3 Connecticut, with the winner facing second-seeded Marquette.
