Bluejay Baseball Tops Double Digits for Eighth Time in 10-3 Win Over South Dakota State

Omaha, Neb. -- Will MacLean delivered a break through performance with four hits (4-for-5) and three RBI as Creighton defeated South Dakota State 10-3 on Tuesday, March 19.
The win lifted Creighton to 15-3 on the season, while South Dakota State fell to 10-11.
The Bluejays jumped out to a quick lead with three runs in the first and one in the second.
Tate Gillen battled back from an 0-2 count to draw a leadoff walk in the first, then Nolan Sailors laced a single to center. After Sailors stole second, Teddy Deters put Creighton on top with a sac fly to center. Colby Canales followed with a walk, then MacLean pulled a single through the right side to make it 2-0. An RBI walk from Ben North made it 3-0, while Deters plated Gillen in the second on an infield single.
Creighton took advantage of three hits and a pair of Jackrabbit errors in the fifth to push their lead to 7-0, while the two squads each pushed across three runs in the seventh and eighth combined.
Joining MacLean with three RBI was Deters, pushing across Creighton's run in the seventh on a hit-by-pitch.
Freshman Eli Nissen earned his first win (1-0) as a Bluejay with four shutout innings to open the contest, striking out seven and limiting the Jackrabbits to two hits.
Creighton topped 10 runs or more for the eighth time this season.
The Bluejays return to action at Stanford on Saturday, March 23 as Creighton plays in the Sunken Diamond at 4:05 p.m.
