Scouting the Bluejays (2024: 30-11, 4-7 BIG EAST)
A roller coaster week saw Creighton sweep a pair of games from #13 Coastal Carolina during the midweek, then drop a pair to Georgetown over the weekend.
As a team the Bluejays are hitting .297, led individually by Nolan Sailors (.391), Nolan Clifford (.351) and Teddy Deters (.327). On the bump the Bluejays have a team ERA of 4.89, with 352 strikeouts.
Scouting the Huskers (2024: 27-14, 10-5 Big Ten)
Nebraska also split its week at 2-2, dropping a midweek battle to Kansas and the series finale with Iowa. The Huskers have lost four consecutive midweek games.
Nebraska brings a team average of .290 to Charles Schwab Field Omaha, led by Tyler Stone and Cayden Brumbaugh who are both hitting .336, while Case Sanderson has a .333 average.
Husker hurlers have a 4.46 ERA with 338 strikeouts this season.
Lommel Earns BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week with Pair of Break Through Performances
After throwing just 3.1 innings entering the play last week, Cade Lommel delivered 8.1 frames of scoreless baseball against #13 Coastal Carolina (3.1) and Georgetown (5.0).
The southpaw struck out nine and allowed just three hits over his two relief appearances. The five inning effort against the Hoyas was
Lommel's longest outing since going 5.1 against Connecticut on May 8, 2002.
Non-Conference Success
Creighton Baseball heads into Tuesday's contest against Nebraska with a 26-4 record in non-conference games. The 26 wins are three more than anyone else in the nation this spring. In the last five seasons, only three teams nationally have had 27 non-con wins by Selection Monday.
Three Game Sweeps of Huskers are Rare
Creighton has enjoyed success against Nebraska recently, but three game sweeps have been hard to come by. The Bluejays have collected sweeps of the Huskers in 2018 and 1993. The 1993 sweep was the last time the Bluejays took three from Nebraska in the same month, while the 2018 sweep came in three different months.

Bluejays and Huskers Work TOGETHER to Support Tornado Relief Efforts
Creighton and Nebraska Baseball are rivals on the diamond, but following the catastrophes brought on by tornadoes in the Lincoln and Omaha metro areas on Friday, the two teams are working TOGETHER to support relief efforts. Both teams are wearing team specific batting practice shirts in Red (Nebraska) and Blue (Creighton). Identical shirts are available for purchase with proceeds going to relief efforts.
In addition proceeds from ticket sales for the game on Tuesday, April 30 will also be donated to relief efforts. Athletic Departments from both universities are also working on additional avenues to offer support.
Bluejay Alumni Update
Bluejay Baseball has 14 former players active in professional baseball, 11 on the diamond two as coaches and one in the front office.

Former Bluejays Scott Servais (Manager) and Carson Vitale (bench coach) are on the Seattle Mariners coaching staff.
AAA Players (5): Anthony Bemboom (Toledo Mud Hens - Detroit), Isaac Collins (Nashville Sounds - Milwaukee) , Ryan Fitzgerald (Omaha Storm Chasers - Kansas City) , Will Robertson (Buffalo Bisons - Toronto), Elliot Soto (Salt Lake Bees - Minnesota).
