Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Men's Soccer team delivered a strong performance in the 2024 season opener, out shooting Florida Atlantic 15-6 but were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw on Thursday, August 22.
Following Thursday's result, the Bluejays moved to 0-0-1 as did the Owls.
The Bluejays controlled possession throughout the opening frame, firing the first four shots of the match. Creighton held the ball within their half of the pitch for better than 60% of the first stanza. By halftime the Bluejays held a 6-2 edge on shots and a 7-0 lead on corners drawn.
Florida Atlantic rallied at halftime, creating four early shots. Creighton, however, regained its stronghold on the contest, firing nine shots in the second half.
Despite the disparity in shots, the Bluejays were unable to push across the deciding tally.
Following the match Torres commented on how impressed he was with his team's defense, but also noted that scoring is an art. "We will get there, but tonight we just were unable to connect each piece to earn the result we wanted."
Creighton returns to the pitch on Sunday, August 25 against Drake at 5:00 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.
