Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at Gopher Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Battling a competitive field, the Creighton women's tennis completed the final day of the Gopher Invitational with three wins on Sunday afternoon at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
Junior Annika Elvestrom and freshman Karli Vo highlighted doubles play with a 6-2 victory over Milwaukee's Sara Simonova and Emilia Durska, while Elvestrom and freshman Alem Cote captured the Bluejays lone victories in singles action. Elvestrom defeated North Dakota's Linn Svaerd, 6-2, 6-0, while Cote defeated Marquette's EJ Barcley in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
"This was a competitive tournament that showed us a lot of what we need to work on and many good things we do well to build on," said head coach Tom Lilly. "Next week we will rest a bit to heal some injuries and get back on working hard towards the spring season."
The Bluejays return to the courts on Oct. 9-14 when they travel to Memphis, Tenn. To compete in the ITA Central Regional hosted by Memphis.
