
Kendra Wait Earns Fourth BIG EAST Setter of the Week Award

Senior setter ranks sixth nationally in assists per set.
OMAHA, Neb. -- For the fourth time this month, Creighton Volleyball's Kendra Wait has been named BIG EAST Setter of the Week. The Gardner, Kan., native was previously recognized on Sept. 2, Sept. 9 and Sept. 23rd.
Wait averaged a league-leading 11.67 assists to go with 2.17 digs, 0.83 blocks and 0.67 kills per set while hitting .571 last week. The 2023 BIG EAST Player of the Year and BIG EAST Setter of the Year helped Creighton hit a combined .423 in two victories in which the Bluejays outscored foes 150-84 and did not allow more than 18 points in any set.
Wait had 29 assists, five digs, three kills and two blocks in Friday's sweep vs. Providence, Creighton's 11th straight league-opening win. She then had 41 assists, eight digs, three blocks and a kill on Sunday in a 3-0 win against a 12-1 UConn team. The Bluejays hit .471 in Sunday's triumph, the sixth-best mark in program history.
Wait currently ranks sixth nationally with 11.00 assists per set and is the only player in the country to average at least 11.00 assists and 2.95 digs per set this season.
No. 6 Creighton (11-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) hosts Marquette (6-5, 2-0 BIG EAST) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on FS1. The teams have shared the league's regular-season title each of the past three years, with Creighton winning the BIG EAST Tournament each time.
