Bluejay Bats Come Alive in 17-1 Win Over UNC Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C. -- Creighton Baseball plated 17 runs on 17 hits, led by three from Nolan Sailors to take the series finale at UNC Greensboro 17-1 in seven innings on Sunday, February 16.
The win moved the Bluejays to 1-2 on the season, while the Spartans fell to 2-1.
Creighton's first four runs came via the long ball as Ben North blasted a two-run bomb to left in the second, then Will MacLean smashed a two-run blast to right in the third.
The Bluejays added four runs in the fifth, getting RBI singles from Nolan Sailors and Connor Capece as well as two unearned runs to make it 8-0. Two more runs crossed in the sixth as Sailors smacked his second RBI single in as many innings and Kyle Hess pushed across a run on a hit by pitch.
Creighton opened the flood gates with seven runs in the seventh before the Spartans pushed one across in the bottom half.
Freshman starter Wilson Magers was dominant in his Creighton debut, notching six strikeouts in five scoreless innings to earn the win (1-0). Greensboro's Rob Ready took the loss (0-1), allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks in 4.1 frames.
Creighton returns to action next weekend with a four-game series against the Portland Pilots in the Pacific Northwest.
