Scouting the Dons (2025: 9-9, 0-0 WCC)
Playing primarily west coast teams, the Dons stopped a small skid (four losses in five games) with an impressive 11-1 win on Wednesday over Cal Baptist in seven innings.
San Francisco enters the weekend hitting .268 as a team, led by a trio hitting over .300. Jordan Lewis leads the Dons at .309 with three home runs and 12 RBI, while Kenny Decelle (.306) and TJ Rogers (.305) are just a step back.
On the mound the Dons offer a 5.66 team ERA. The tandem of Tyler Prystajko (0.00 ERA over 4.2 innings) and Quentin Pohorski
(1.69 ERA with two saves over 10.2 innings) present a strong bullpen.
Scouting the Bluejays (2025: 8-4, 0-0 BIG EAST)
With victories in four straight games and six of the last seven contests, the Bluejays are hitting their stride.
Injuries have limited the Bluejay rotation, but freshman Wilson Magers has bloomed in the void and the return of Dominic Cancellieri last weekend was also a boost.
Offensively the Bluejays are hitting .264 as a team, led by the tandem of Nolan Sailors (.417) and Nate McHugh (.393).
Consecutive Midweek Wins
Going 12-0 last season in midweek contests, Creighton extended its success in midweek games to 14 consecutive wins by defeating Kansas State (9-8) on Tuesday.
Bluejays Take Down Wildcats with Grit
Trailing 2-0 in the second inning to Kansas State on Tuesday, the Bluejays exploded for seven runs in the second with patience and timely hitting.
Down to their final strike in the frame, sophomore Connor Capece gave the Bluejays a 3-2 lead with his first home run of the season.
The next four Creighton hitters drew walks, then Will MacLean was hit by a pitch to make it 5-2. Finally Nate McHugh lined a two-run double to left-center.
K-State responded with a grand slam in the fifth, but the Bluejays hung on for the win, denying the Wildcats attempt to tie the game in the eighth as Nolan Sailors gunned down the potential tying run at the plate.
Aggies Offer Lone Common Opponent
Both Creighton and San Francisco faced UC Davis over the past two weeks, with the Dons claiming a 2-1 win on March 4 and Creighton taking both contests with the Aggies last weekend.
