Ian Koosman Extends Scoreless Streak to 14 innings, Two Home Runs by Ben North
Omaha, Neb. -- The offense delivered early and often for Creighton Baseball as the Bluejays defeated Omaha 10-0 in seven innings on Tuesday, March 25.
The victory pushed Creighton to 14-6 on the season, while Omaha fell to 5-17.
The Bluejays jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first courtesy of an RBI double from Nolan Sailors, then a two-run blast from Ben North.
Creighton added two runs in the fourth on an RBI triple from Nick Venteicher followed by an RBI bunt single from Tate Gillen to make it 5-0.
The Bluejays tacked on three more runs in the fifth as Will MacLean blasted a solo shot to left-center, Teddy Deters followed with a triple to right center and RBI singles from Connor Capece and Gillen pushed it to an 8-0 advantage.
North crushed his second home run in the sixth and Capece slashed an RBI single to drive in the pivotal tenth run to push the game to a run-rule decision.
Ian Koosman earned the win (3-2) limiting Omaha to two hits over five innings with seven strikeouts. Omaha starter Tanner Foerstch took the loss (1-1), allowing three runs on three hits in one inning.
The Bluejays return to the road as Creighton begins a three-game series at Samford over the weekend.
