Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball wraps up the month of March with a three-game series at Samford this weekend. This will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and Bluejays.

Scouting the Bulldogs (2025: 13-12, 1-2 SoCon)
The Bulldogs host Creighton after losing a midweek game at Mississippi State and a weekend series at ETSU.
Samford is hitting a .293 batting average as a team. Sophomore Cade Carr leads the team in batting average with .381, hits with 32 and RBI with 34. Junior Jeffrey Ince follows with a .356 average and leads the team in runs scored with 29. Four fellow bulldogs will come into the series hitting over .300 including junior Parker McDonald (.319), junior Michael Gupton (.313), sophomore Jackson Harris (.312) and freshman Jake Sounders (.306).
From the bump, the Bulldogs hold a 5.83 team ERA over 203.2 innings, relying on the experienced trio of senior Evan Steckmesser, redshirt sophomore Cameron Keshock and senior Miller Riggins. Samford has allowed 205 hits and 108 walks while throwing 223 strikeouts.
Scouting the Bluejays (2025: 14-6, 0-0 BIG EAST)
Coming into the series on a three-game win streak, including a 10-0 shutout at Omaha, the Bluejays are coming to Alabama hot.
Offensively, Creighton is hitting a .273, led by senior Nolan Sailors (.429), junior transfer Nate McHugh (.327) and graduate transfer Dakota Duffalo (.300). Sailors also leads the team in hits (33),
doubles (5) and runs scored (22).
On the mound the Bluejays have a team ERA of 4.23 with 167 strikeouts in 168 innings. Bullpen arm Matthew Aukerman is off to a 4-0 start recording 18 strikeouts. Freshman Wilson Magers is becoming a key part of the rotation starting the season with a 3-1 record, and holding his opponents to a .163 batting average with 21 strikeouts over 27.1 innings.
Koosman Scoreless Streak Grows to 14 Innings
Bluejay junior Ian Koosman pushed his scoreless streak to 14 innings with five shutdown frames in Creighton's 10-0 (7) win at Omaha on Tuesday, March 25. Koosman also threw seven scoreless innings in the Bluejays' 1-0 win over South Dakota State on Tuesady, March 18 as well as his last two innings versus Kansas State on March 11.
Ian Koosman Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Koosman earned his first BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor for his seven-inning gem last week on Monday, March 24. He tossed seven innings of shutout ball to guide the Bluejays to a 1-0 win over South Dakota State on Tuesday, March 18. Needing just 85 pitches, Koosman recorded nine strikeouts and allowed just two hits and one walk.
Bluejays Deliver First 1-0 Home Win Since 2008, First Nine-Inning 1-0 Win Since 2007
A 1-0 outcome in college baseball is a rarity, but it has been quite some time since the Bluejays have completed the feat. Creighton's
last 1-0 win came on April 26, 2015 at Butler. The last home 1-0 win was on April 9, 2008 over North Dakota State in seven
innings. The last 1-0 home win in nine innings came on May 17, 2007 over Missouri State.
Creighton's Midweek Win Streak Moves to 16
Entering the season with 13 consecutive wins in midweek contests, the Bluejays have posted victories in the first three of 2025. Creighton won all 12 midweek games in 2024 as well as the final midweek contest of 2024. The last midweek loss came to Nebraska on May 09, 2023 in a 7-4 contest.
