Baseball Opens Home Schedule with DH Against UC Davis, Faces KSU on Tuesday

Omaha, Neb. -- After a week long battle with frigid conditions, Creighton Baseball will open the 2025 home schedule on Sunday, March 9 with a doubleheader against UC Davis. The Bluejays then welcome Kansas State for the first midweek game of the season on Tuesday.
Series History: Bluejays Lead 7-2
The Bluejays and Aggies have met nine times previously, the last time coming in 2018. Creighton has won the last five battles and is 2-1 against UC Davis in Charles Schwab Field Omaha.

Scouting the Aggies (2025: 8-5, 0-0 Big West)
UC Davis opened the season with seven wins in nine games, but the Aggies have lost four of their five games. Playing a midweek game against San Francisco on Tuesday, the Aggies fell 2-1.
The Aggies have been strong on the mound with a team ERA of 3.01 over nine games. UC Davis has walked 48 batters over 116.2Â innings and struck out 106.
At the plate UC Davis is hitting .292 as a team, led by Braydon Wooldridge (.429), Riley Acosta (.354) and Korey Williams (.343).Six Aggies come to Omaha hitting better than .300 on the
season.
Scouting the Wildcats (2025: 6-5, 0-0 Big 12)
Before coming to Omaha for a midweek game on Tuesday, Kansas State hosts William & Mary for a three-game set in Manhattan.
The Wildcats already hold wins over #5 Arkansas, #22 TCU, Michigan and Nebraska this season.
Kansas State brings a 5.10 ERA into the weekend, with 48 walks and 113 strikeouts in 97 innings.
Hitting .277 as a team, four Wildcats are hitting .333 or better. The trio of Maximus Martin (.467), Seth Dardar (.400) and AJ Evasco (.389) lead Kansas State with a combined six home runs, 13 doubles and 23 RBI.
Scouting the Bluejays (2025: 5-4, 0-0 BIG EAST)
After ending their opening weekend series on a high note with a 17-1 win over Greensboro, Creighton has won five of seven including series wins over Portland and College of Charleston over the last two weekends.
Injuries have limited the Bluejay rotation, but freshman Wilson Magers has bloomed in the void with a pair of strong starts. In addition the Bluejays are expecting to see Dominic Cancellieri make his return this weekend.
The offense is also battling the injury bug, but Dakota Duffalo has charged into the opportunity to delivered a team-high .455 average with five hits in 11 at-bats. Three other hitters that have impressed in the early season at Nolan Sailors (.421), Nate McHugh (.333) and Nick Venteicher (.333).

Going 12-0 last season in midweek contests, Creighton enters the battle with Kansas State on Tuesday, March 11 with 13
consecutive wins.
Langrell and Sailors Claim a Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll
The tandem of Nolan Sailors and Garrett Langrell shined in the Bluejays' series win over College of Charleston.
Langrell tossed a combined five innings as he picked up two saves in a pair of appearances, limiting the Cougars to one run on four hits.
Sailors went 8-for-12 with four runs scored, two RBI and two doubles.
Duffalo Makes and Impact
Pressed into the starting lineup for the final two games at College of Charleston by a pair of injuries, Dakota Duffalo made the most of his opportunity going 5-for-8 with two runs score, two RBI, one home run and one triple.
Home Opener
Creighton is 34-10 in recorded home openers, including 16-5 under Ed Servais. The Bluejays earned a 12-2 win over UMass-Lowell last season on March 5.
Weather Has Altered 10 Games in 2025
Baseball in the early portion of the season is a constant battle with weather, but the 2025 season is coming out of the box cold. In each of the opening two series weather concerns have forced a doubleheader to be played on Friday, then impacted the time in the other two played contests.
The home opening weekend with UC Davis has been rescheduled to a doubleheader.
To date the Bluejays have seen three games canceled.
