Bluejays send limited numbers against elite competition
LAWRENCE, Kan. and WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Creighton Track sent six of its top performers to a pair of elite competitions over Easter Weekend, as the Bluejays were represented at both the Wake Forest Invitational as well as the Kansas Relays on Friday and Saturday.
Creighton sent four men to Wake Forest to compete in the 800 meters, which featured 80 entries across nine heats. Junior Jake Ziebarth led the Bluejay quartet, as he placed eighth with a season-best time of 1:50.30. That's the second-fastest outdoor 800 time in program history, trailing only the time of 1:48.80 from Tommy Ward in 2023 that helped him become the program's first Regional qualifier in outdoor track.
Evan Kraus (1:50.79) and Ryan Hendrickson (1:51.37) both turned in personal-bests to finish in 15th and 16th place respectively, while Brian Hiltebrand had a time of 1:58.11 in his second 800 of the spring.
Also competing in Winston-Salem was senior Marcos Gonzalez in the steeplechase. Gonzalez placed 26th in the event with a time of 9:31.09. High Point's Aiden Morrison won the steeplechase with a time of 8:58.68.

The Bluejays will compete in a pair of competitions next week, heading to both the Drake Relays (April 24-26) and the Kip Janvrin Open (April 24-25) in Central Iowa.

Ludwick's best throw was his third toss as he hurled the javelin 56.44 meters (185-2) to help him reach the event finals. It was Ludwick's third consecutive top-eight finish at the Kansas Relays, where he took third a year ago and second in 2023 while competing for Ottawa University.
