Scouting Xavier (2025: 29-21, 13-5 BIG EAST)
Ahead of the BIG EAST battle, Xavier racked a quick two-game win streak to finish off the Seton Hall Pirates. After dropping the first game to the Pirates 12-8, the Musketeers evened the series with a 6-1 victory in seven innings the next day.
Early momentum bolstered Xavier's comfortable 6-1 victory over Seton Hall, as a home run each from Connor Misch and Clay
Burdette opened scoring on the day. Consistency on the mound from Musketeer pitcher Ben Weber solidified Xavier's series-tying game. The junior threw the full 7.0 innings, matching his season-long, limiting the PIrates to just one run on three hits. He walked four batters and posted five strikeouts on the afternoon.
In a game three to decide the series, the Musketeers came out on top once again, squeaking out a 9-7 victory with help from strong performances by Nolan Tucker and Misch.
Tucker went 2-3 with two runs scored in the series finale while Misch added three more RBI, finishing 1-4 with a walk and a scored run to give the Musketeers the scoring edge and knock off the Pirates, earning their fifth BIG EAST series win.
Tucker (.353) and Misch (.311) continue to be Xavier's lead the Musketeers offensively this season. The two combine for a .644 average on 297 at-bats this season.
Weber serves as Xavier's consistent force on the mound. This season, the junior holds a 3.36 ERA, appearing in 15 games and pitching 72.1 innings for a total of 36 strikeouts.
Scouting the Bluejays (2025: 32-13, 12-3 BIG EAST)
The final home weekend of the season will bring intensity and emotion as the Bluejays will honor former player and director of operations Chris Gradoville on Friday, celebrate its seniors on Saturday, then honor head coach Ed Servais following his final game at Charles Schwab Field on Sunday.
With all of that going on off the field, the games on the field could very well decide and will certainly impact the BIG EAST Conference title.
Creighton enters the weekend hitting .280 as a team, led by Nolan Sailors at .406 and Connor Capece at .350.
On the mound the team has a 4.03 ERA, led by relievers Noah Klein (2.11 ERA), Garrett Langrell (2.15 ERA, 5-1 with 10 saves) and Matt Aukerman (7-0 with a 2.43 ERA).
