Men's Golf Goes Low at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

Creighton places 10th in a field of 19
ERIE, Colo.--  The Creighton men's golf team tied a season-low with an 11-under par total of 853 at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Colorado National Golf Course in Erie, Colo. Creighton placed 10th with a team score of 853, shooting 284 in the first two rounds and a 285 in the third round for the 54-hole tournament.
The Bluejays were led by Grant Feldman, who produced rounds of 68-73-68 for a cumulative total of 209 which landed him at seven-under par for the tournament. Tying for 14th in the field and jumping up 16 spots on the leaderboard during the final day, Feldman was the only Bluejay that had two eagles for the week with both of them taking place on par fours. The first was on a 468-yard third hole in the first round and the second was on a 364-yard 17th hole in the third round. He also led the Bluejays in birdies for the week, with 14.
Next for the Creighton team was Owen Price, who placed in a tie for 21st and shot three under-par rounds of 69-71-70 for a total of 210. This score marks a new career 54-hole tournament best for Price, beating his previous record by one shot. Owen carded one eagle for the week on hole number 12 which was a 564-yard par five. He also had 10 birdies for the week.
Following Feldman and Price in the Bluejay standings was Brock Kuhlman with a tournament score of two-under and three-round scores of 71-70-73. His total of 214 placed him in a tie for 44th for the tournament. Kuhlman also broke his career best 54-hole tournament with these scores by one shot. Kuhlman also had 11 birdies for the week, which was the second-most for the Bluejays for the tournament.
Next for the Creighton squad was Jacob Kutner who tied for 73rd for the week with scores of 76-71-74. These scores put him at a total of five-over par with a cumulative score of 221 for the 54 holes the team played this week.
The fifth player for the Bluejays was Gavin Gerch who shot scores of 76-72-80 to post a total of 228 which put him at 91st on the leaderboard.
Arkansas State won the tournament with a whopping 42-under par, with host Colorado close behind landing at 41-under par. Long Beach State came in third with their scores totaling 40-under par. The individual winner of the event this week was Thomas Schmidt from Arkansas State who posted a tournament-record 54-hole score of 22-under par with a cumulative total of 194 and broke away from the rest of the field by eight shots.
The course played as a par 72 at an astounding 7,787 yards. Playing in a large field of 19 teams and 100 players, CU's 11-under par ties the season tournament low for the team thus far, which was first set at the Bluejay Invitational on the 15th and 16th of September.
The Bluejays will play their next tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in the Florida Atlantic Invitational next month on October 27th and 28th which will mark the end of their fall season.
