Bluejay Baseball Falls at San Diego, 15-5

The loss moved Creighton to 2-3 on the season, while San Diego moved to 5-1.
San Diego took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run blast by Jayden Lobliner. The Toreros added five more runs in the second on four hits, two hit batters and a walk, then tacked on a run in the fourth to build an 8-0 lead.
Creighton tried to rally in the fifth as the Bluejays pushed across five runs on three hits. Connor Capece got the Bluejays started with a double to deep left-center. Chris Baillargeon followed with a walk, then one out later a walk to Lew Rice filled the bases. Nick Venteicher laced his second single of the evening into center to plate two Creighton runs. An RBI fielder's choice from Isaac Wachsmann made it 8-3, then after an error extended the frame, Ben North blooped a two-run double into right.
San Diego answered back with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to secure the win.
Creighton starter Brian Gould was tagged for seven runs in 1.1 innings to take the loss (0-1), while San Diego starer Kyle Bade picked up the win (1-0). Bade allowed five runs (three earned) in five innings of work.
The Bluejays wrap up their three-games at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament on Sunday, February 22 against Utah. That game will be played at San Diego State, with a scheduled start of 1:00 pm.
