Getting to Know Connor Capece
- Capece had a breakout second season in Omaha, hitting .351 over 50 games, including 45 starts.
- Connor closed the season with 15 extra-base hits (11 doubles, one triple and three home runs) as well as 41 RBI.
- Capece’s efforts were recognized by BIG EAST coaches, as the catcher
- collected All-BIG EAST Second Team honors.
- He raised the bar by claiming the BIG EAST Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. During the Bluejays’ three victories, Connor was 7-for-12 (.583) with five RBI and two runs scored.
- He delivered 17 multi-hit games, including six contests with at least three hits.
- Connor also delivered 11 multi-RBI games, including seven with at least three.
- He started the season going 5-of-11 against UNC Greensboro and Portland.
- Capece went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI in Creighton’s 10-0 win over Omaha on March 25.
- Capece went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in Creighton’s 12-3 win over Villanova on April 27.
- He was 4-for-6 with four RBI and two runs scored in a 16-4 win over Butler on May 4.
2024 (Freshman)
- In his first season at Creighton, Capece played in 23 games, earning the start 20 times, with 18 of those starts behind home plate.
- Connor had a strong start to the season, hitting over .300 in his first 13 games he started.
- Capece had a season-high three doubles on four hits with two runs scored and two RBI in a 9-5 win against Portland on March 9.
2019-23 (Gross Catholic HS)
- Capece earned a combined seven letters in baseball (three), football (two) and basketball (two) as a Cougar.
- Selected First Team All-State (Lincoln Journal Star & Omaha World-Herald) following both his junior and senior seasons, Connor was the captain of the All-Nebraska Team in 2023 (Omaha World-Herald).
- He helped lead Gross Catholic to consecutive district championships in 2021 and 2022 as well as the NSAA Semifinals in 2022.
- Off the diamond, Connor graduated with honors, finishing with a GPA above 3.5.

- Where did you first fall in love with baseball, and who put the first glove in your hand? My neighborhood t-ball field and my dad.

- What’s your favorite restaurant in Omaha? Dinkers
- If you didn’t play baseball, what other sport would you have played? Football
- What’s your earliest baseball memory that still sticks with you today? Playing rec-league baseball with my classmates and older brother when I was 7.
- What’s a hobby or talent you have that people wouldn’t expect from a baseball player? I enjoy cleaning and staying organized.
- Baseball runs deep in the Capece family as his father (Kevin) played at Briar Cliff, while his brother (Kyle) is currently on the Briar Cliff squad.
