Scouting Creighton (26-19, 11-4 BIG EAST)
Taking the series finale at St. John's, 6-5, kept the Bluejays atop the BIG EAST conference standings, tied with the Red Storm.Â
Heading into a week of stiff competition, the Bluejays dropped to a .279 batting average after their tiff with the Red Storm, but Creighton's core players continue to impress.
Ben North holds a team-high .357 batting average, tying Isaac Wachsmann for a team-high nine homers this season.
McHugh's consistency helps balance the Bluejay offense. The catcher holds a .324 batting average, pacing the team with 61 hits this season and three third base hits.
Connor Capece (.289) continues to complement North and McHugh's high-caliber hitting with a roster-leading 43 RBI.
On the hill, Jack Pineau remains Creighton's go-to. The pitcher has 65.1 innings of work and a team-high 69 strikeouts.Â
Wilson Magers is continuing to insert his presence on the mound this season after sitting out with injury. The pitcher (4.50 ERA) threw five innings and recorded three strikeouts in the Bluejays' 6-5 victory this weekend. This season, he has 20 strikeouts in 22 innings.
Scouting #7 Kansas (37-11, 20-4 Big 12)
Kansas jumped from No. 11 to No. 7 after a home weekend series sweep of Arizona. They allowed just nine runs over three contests and collected 22 of their own over the weekend.
The Jayhawks come to Omaha on a 10-game win streak and sit comfortably in first place in the BIG 12, with a four-game lead.
This season, the Jayhawks have a collective .298 batting average, displaying a balanced lineup with five players hitting over .300.Â
Leading the pack is the dynamic duo of Tyson LeBlanc and Cade Baldridge. LeBlanc spearheads the roster in three categories, boasting a .337 batting average, 16 home runs and 49 RBI. Baldridge supplements LeBlanc's balanced game with 38 RBI, seven home runs and 65 hits.Â
Pitcher Riane Ritter is the Jayhawks' overwhelming favorite on the hill. The sophomore has thrown 38.0 innings as a reliever, recording 45 strikeouts in that time.
Mathis Nayral (5.47) is one of Kansas' primary starting options. Through 52.2 innings of work this season in 13 starts, the junior recorded 53 strikeouts.
Scouting Georgetown (23-25, 5-10 BIG EAST)
The Hoyas salvaged their most recent four game stretch with a series finale 14-5 victory over Villanova on Sunday. A six-run sixth frame gave Georgetown the ammunition to fight off the Villanova offense for its first win in eight games.Â
This season, the Hoyas hold a collective .278 batting average. Connor Peek is the Hoyas' most successful player at the plate, racking up a .356 batting average in 48 starts. His offensiveÂ
production resulted in 41 RBI, ranking second on the team only to Jeremy Sheffield (47).Â
On the bump, Kai Leckszas (4.14 ERA) is a consistent presence in the rotation. The veteran senior often sets the tone for the series, holding a 4-3 record and posting 45 strikeouts in 58.2 innings pitched.Â
Spencer Seid (4.21 ERA) is another pillar in the starting rotation, recording 11 starts. Seid, with a record of 5-5, has an overwhelming 70 strikeouts in 66.1 innings of work.
