The Bluejays jumped out in front early, with a first-inning run. Reiss extended her hitting streak to 13 games with a one-out triple. Lincoln native Bailey Dawson then put down a bunt, scoring Reiss with the game's first run.
Creighton tacked on three more runs in the top of the second. Jessica German led off the inning by ripping a line drive off of third baseman Carmen Kier's glove. With one out, she moved to second on a fielder's choice bunt by Michelle Koch, in which Koch reached first as the throw went to second. German was thrown out at home after attempting to score on a pinch-hit by Renae Sinkler, for the second out.
The Jays then scored three two-out runs to open up the game. Koch came around to score on Reiss' second hit of the game. Jessica Wakasugi and Reiss were plated on Dawson's two-run double down the right field line, giving the Jays a 4-0 lead after two at bats.
Nebraska (20-9) snapped Tara Oltman's scoreless innings streak at 33, with an unearned run in the bottom of the second to make the score 4-1 in favor of CU.
A 40 minute rain delay in the bottom of the second inning cooled the Bluejay bats, as CU was held hitless by Molly Hill (9-5) over the final five innings. The NU right-hander retired the final 16 batters she faced after allowing four earned runs and six hits in the first two frames. The NU offense was limited to a season-low two hits.
Oltman won her sixth straight decision to improve to 11-2 on the year, while walking three and striking out six in the two-hitter. The rookie right-hander also used the rain delay to her advantage allowing no hits after the second inning, and only three base runners two errors and one walk. She has now gone 39.1 straight innings without allowing an earned run, dating back to March 10 at Northern Colorado.
Reiss went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while home town shortstop Dawson finished 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
The three-run margin of victory over the Huskers was CU's largest against its in-state foe since a 6-0 win in Omaha on April 15, 1997.
Creighton returns home for a doubleheader against South Dakota State on Thursday. First pitch at the CU Sports Complex is set for 3 p.m
