Bluejay Softball Edges Saint Louis, 1-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Bailey Dawson's two-out RBI triple in the seventh inning proved to be Creighton's only hit in a 1-0 softball win over Saint Louis Saturday at the Arkansas Invitational. Sophomore Tara Oltman hurled a complete-game three-hit shutout for the Jays.

The Bluejays (7-2) capitilized on their only hit of the game because of a one-out walk to TJ Eadus in the seventh. Jess Stigge pinch-ran for Eadus and was moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Renae Sinkler. With two outs Dawson stepped to the plate and ripped a triple to right center field, driving in Stigge with the only run of the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, Oltman retired the Billikens (2-3) in order, striking out the last two batters of the game.

Oltman improved to 5-1, allowing just three hits in seven innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked three in her second shutout of the season.

Lorena Floccari (0-1) was the tough luck loser for SLU, allowing one hit and one run with two walks and four strike outs.

Creighton is back in action against Alcorn State this evening at the Arkansas Invitational.
