MESA, Ariz. - A solo home run by Angeline Quiocho with two outs in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the only BYU run in a 1-0 Cougar victory over the Creighton softball team Friday afternoon at the Wilson/DeMarini Invitational hosted by Arizona State. Friday afternoon's game was played at the Mesa Community College softball diamond.
Arizona native and Bluejay senior pitcher Amanda Hess returned to the Mesa Community College field she dominated opponents at as a sophomore. The right-hander was the tough-luck loser, going the distance and allowing just four hits, one run, walked two and struck out four.
The Bluejays (10-4) out-hit the Cougars (11-5) 5-4, led by sophomore Jessi Jadlowski's 2-for-4 day.
Creighton topped San Jose State 8-0 earlier on Friday.
The Jays return to action on Saturday at the event, taking on Arkansas and BYU on the campus of Arizona State.
