
Softball Blasts BYU, 10-1

Jessi Jadlowski reached base to lead off the game on an error by the Cougar shortstop. One out later, TJ Eadus singled to the pitcher to put two runners on. Jadlowski would score the first run of the game when Laura Kratochvil reached on BYU's second error of the inning. Renae Sinkler's single down the left field line drove in both Eadus and Kratochvil to put CU up 3-0. Jessica Wakasugi plated the fourth run of the inning on single.
Another unearned run in the second inning gave the Jays a 5-0 lead. Kratochvil drove in the run on a sacrifice fly. Wakasugi scored an unearned run in the fourth inning on BYU's fourth error of the game. She speedy centerfielder rounded the bases after she singled and the Cougar pitcher threw the ball wildly to first base.
BYU scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the third.
The Jays scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to end the game because of the run-rule. Sinkler and Michelle Graner reached on back-to-back walks to open the frame. Lau Emmsley-Chang loaded the bases on a fielder's choice and a walk to Wakasugi drove in the inning's first run. The next three Bluejay runs all scored on fielder's choices.
Sophomore hurler Tara Oltman shut down the Cougars in the bottom half of the fifth and the game ended early. The right-hander improved to 7-2 on the season with the complete game effort. She allowed four hits and one run, while walking four and striking out six.
The Jays finished with just six hits in the 10-run affair. Wakasugi finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Eadus also went 2-for-3. Sinkler went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.
