Women's Tennis Wins Second Straight; Tops UW-Green Bay, 5-2

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Creighton Women's Tennis team earned the first four points of the dual, as they went on to defeat UW-Green Bay 5-2, Saturday evening at the Paley Tennis Center in Milwaukee.
The Bluejays (3-4) secured the doubles point winning the first two matches at No. 1 and 2. Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader earned the No. 1 win with a 8-4 win over Lauryn Grimando and Jessica Bradfield. Anna Kirshenbaum and Kelsey Schmidt took the 'W' at No. 2 with a 9-7 win over Emily Lawent and Rebecca Nelson. UW-Green Bay took the No. 3 doubles match with Morgan Weuve and Laura Bartingale topping Tess Reddin and Lauren Mastro, 8-4.
Three straight victories in singles put the Bluejays up 4-0, and secured the victory. Reddin earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lawent at No. 1, Kirshenbaum dominated play at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Bradfield and Schmidt took the clincher, a 6-1, 6-1 match over Bartingale.
The Phoenix (2-5) won two of the final three singles matches, rebounding after falling behind. Weuve earned the first UW-Green Bay point with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Mastro at No. 3. Mary Pat McMullan earned a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 win at No. 6 to get the point back for Creighton, before Grimando closed the dual with a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 win over Lindsey Erickson at No. 5.
The Jays will look to make it three straight wins tomorrow morning, as they tangle with UW-Milwaukee. First serve will be bright and early at 9:00 a.m.
