
Women's Tennis Drops MVC Match at Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Creighton women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Evansville Purple Aces on Friday, their first loss in seven matches. The Jays (10-6, 1-2) won one doubles and one singles match on the day.
In doubles action, Kelsey Schmidt and Mary McMullan defeated Aleksandra Dzakula and Pin Sorensen 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles for the only win in doubles action. Kate Chybowski and Dora Kotsiou defeated Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder 8-0 in the No. 1 doubles, while Kelsey Costales and Jessica Raatz defeated Sarah Cadwallader and Leesa Cadwallader 9-7 in a hard fought battle at the No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Lauren Mastro picked up the only point for the Jays on the day, when she defeated Carolyn Caire 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 at the No. 5 singles spot. Chybowski defeated Kirshenbaum 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, while Kotsiou defeated Snyder 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles.
No3 singles saw Schmidt take Aleksandra Dzakula to three sets, but Schmidt fell 6-2, 5-7, 10-7. McMullan fell 7-5, 6-4 to Sorensen at the No. 4 singles and Costales defeated Sarah Cadwallader 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles.
The Jays will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Southeast Missouri State. They will also play on Sunday, as they will take on MVC foe Southern Illinois. Check into www.gocreighton.com for all the latest information on women's tennis.
