OMAHA, Neb. -- Becca Changstrom threw a two-hit shutout as the Creighton softball team won its fourth straight contest, 9-0, in game one of a weekend series with Indiana State on Saturday at the CU Sports Complex.
Seven of Creighton's nine runs were unearned, as Indiana State's league-high error total was bumped to 69 with three more defensive miscues in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Creighton scored the only run it would need in the bottom of the first. Bri Lingl singled with two outs and would come around to score after an Alexis Cantu single and two wild pitches from ISU pitcher Lindsey Beisser.
Creighton took control in the third inning with a five-run outburst. Amy Baker singled to right field to score two runs, Brittnie Kreiser lifted a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to plate pinch-runner Emily Perry, and Liz Dike singled up the middle to send two more teammates home.
The Jays scored their final three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Cantu singled to score Allie Mathewson, and Baker followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 8-0. CU's final run of the day came when pinch-hitter Blair Lowe doubled to left, scoring Cantu.
Changstrom improved to 8-7 with the victory, while throwing CU's first shutout since Feb. 12. She allowed just two hits, but walked five and stranded five runners on base.
Lingl and Cantu each had two hits for a Bluejay attack that had nine hits for the game. Five different players had at least one RBI, including three from Baker.  Baker now owns 115 career RBI, moving her into fifth place in CU history, and past 2012 CU Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Jody Schwartz.
Beisser (5-9) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs in three-plus innings, though only two runs were earned.
