
Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at Jim Colbert Intercollegiate

Creighton finished with a team score of 935 (313+301+321).
Sam Houston State took top honors with a 900 (303+297+300). Kansas State (312+286+304=902) and Grand Canyon (314+306+305=925) finished second and third, respectively.
Zach Cabra of Sam Houston State finished first with a 213 (73+67+73). Alex Carney (70+74+75=219) of Kansas State participated as an individual but finished second overall and Grand Canyon's Mark Geddes (84+71+65=220) finished third.
The Jays had two golfers in the top 20, led by Kade Brown. The freshman finished tied for 15th with a 233 (75+75+83) for the best placing of his young career. Johnny Spellerberg finished tied for 17th with a 234 (78+77+79). Daniel McKernan finished third for the Jays. He shot a 237 (80+76+81), which placed him in a tie for 25th.
Richard Schneider (T-36th, 92+73+79=244) and Andrew Holloway (80+83+82=245) both had strong showings for the Jays, as well.
Steffen Lake (51st, 89+84+88=261) competed in the event as an individual but did not factor into CU's team score.
The Jays compete next on Oct. 14-15 at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in Overland Park, Kan.
