Men's Golf Finishes Fall in 12th Place

ESTERO, Fla. -- The Creighton men's golf team concluded its fall season with a 12th-place finish at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite on Tuesday. The Bluejays shot a three-round 951 (307+329+315) at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida.
Florida separated itself from the rest of the field and finished 13-under par to take the team championship. The Gators shot an 851 (286+280+285) -- 42 strokes ahead of the second-place team. Georgetown ended the first round in fifth place but earned a runner-up finish with a two-day 893 (305+292+296). Host Florida Gulf Coast finished in third with an 897. The Eagles tied for ninth after the opening round and sixth after the second before earning third place.
Florida's Alejandro Tosti (70+71+70) and UCF's Manuel Elvira (71+69+71) tied for the top spot as each finished with a 211.
All four individual competitors that contributed to the Gators' team score placed in the top 10.
Sophomore Charlie Bolton led Creighton and tied for 36th. Bolton carded a 234 (71+83+80). The sophomore opened the tournament with a 1-under par 71 to lead the Bluejays to seventh place after the first round.
Freshman Koy Potthoff, senior Tommy Anderson, junior Andrew Holloway and sophomore Trey Petitt each finished within one stroke of each other. Potthoff stroked a 241 (83+80+78) for a 54th place tie. Anderson ended in 57th with a three-round 242. Holloway returned to the clubhouse with a 243 (82+83+78) and tied for 58th. Petitt rounded out Creighton with a 244 (75+90+79) and tied for 64th.
The Bluejays' competition in the Sunshine State wrapped up their fall schedule. Creighton returns to the links in the spring as it seeks the Big East championship.
