
Creighton Takes Eighth at Jackrabbit Invitational

PRIMM VALLEY, Nev. -- Sophomore Kade Brown placed eighth with a nine-under 207 (67+70+70) to lead the Creighton men's golf team to a tie for eighth place at the Jackrabbit Invitational Tuesday. The Bluejays finished with an 867 (292+290+285) three-round total at the Primm Valley Golf Club.
UNLV took the team championship with an 804 (272+267+265). All five Rebels finished at or under par. Tennessee placed second 17 strokes behind UNLV with an 821 (274+265+282). Oral Roberts finished a distant third place with a three-round 860 (292+291+277) on the par-72 course that measured 7,131 yards.
UNLV's Kurt Kitayama shot a 19-under-par 197 (67+64+66) to place first individually. Fellow teammate John Oda placed second, one stroke behind Kitayama with an 18-under-par 198 (67+67+64). The Rebel's Carl Jonson placed third with a three-round (15-under) 201 (66+69+66).
Creighton senior Johnny Spellerberg finished even-par with a 216 (72+72+72) and tied for 26th. Junior Tommy Anderson stroked a 220 (76+73+71) and tied for 43rd.
Sophomore Andrew Holloway and freshman Jonah Buss rounded out the scoring for the Jays. Holloway tied for 65th with a 225 (78+75+72) and Buss carded a 230 (77+77+76) and tied for 79th.
Creighton travels to Des Moines, Iowa for a dual against Drake on March 30.
