
Men's Golf Finishes 15th at Red Wolves Intercollegiate

JONESBORO, Ark. -- Sophomore Andrew Holloway tied for ninth place (71+78+70=219) to lead the Creighton men's golf team to a 15th place finish (296+320+301=917) at the Red Wolves Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark., on Sunday.
Delta State claimed the team championship with a three-day 876 (296+291+289). DePaul finished runner-up with an 884 (297+297+290). Tennessee Tech (297+295+294=886), Arkansas State (301+292+294=887) and UT-Martin (297+293+298=888) rounded out the top-five of the 21-team field at the RidgePointe Country Club.
Andri Bojornsson (69+70+73=212) from Nicholls State earned the individual crown after defeating Tennessee Tech's Lee Whitehead (72+71+69=212) on the second hole of a sudden death playoff.
Illinois State's Jordan Fahel led the field with a 68 through the first round, but settled for a third place finish with a 214 (68+71+75).
Holloway finished three strokes behind the leader after one round of play on Saturday (71) and had the second-lowest individual performance with a one-under par 70 in the third round on Sunday.
Bluejay senior Johnny Spellerberg tied for 35th with a 226 (74+77+75). Junior Tommy Anderson carded a 235 (73+83+79) for an 84th place tie and freshman Trey Petitt finished in a tie for 89th after shooting a 237 (78+82+77).
Freshman Ben Rogers did not participate in the third round, but tallied a pair of 86-stroke rounds on Saturday (total of 172) for the Jays.
As a team, Creighton was tied for second place with Delta State after the first round of play.
The Bluejays next event is the ORU Shootout in Tulsa, Oklahoma April 13-14.
