Matt Nance sent a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box towards the far post where Taylor headed the ball inside the frame for the golden goal.Â
No. 18 Creighton fell to 8-4-3 overall and 4-2-1 in BIG EAST play, while Xavier improved to 8-5-3 overall and 4-2-1 during league action.Â
The Bluejays controlled possession for the majority of the match as they finished with a 29-7 shot advantage.Â
Creighton fired 18 shots during the first half, but Xavier's Colin Hanley answered with eight saves in the opening 45 minutes to keep the match scoreless.
The Bluejays gained a 1-0 edge early in the second half on a goal from Ricky Lopez-Espin. Ricardo Perez played a ball from midfield to Myles Englis on the left side of the pitch before Englis sent the ball to Lopez-Espin in the middle of the field. Xavier tied the match on its first shot on goal. Taylor threw in the ball from the near sideline into the box where Alex Kapp came off his line to snag the ball out of the air.
