Women's Tennis Falls to Drake in Road Contest, 6-1

Creighton completes road trip on Sunday with match-up versus Wisconsin-Green Bay
DES MOINES, Iowa - Creighton Women's Tennis continued a three-match road trip on Saturday, falling to Drake, 6-1, at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines.
The Bluejays (0-3) battled neck and neck with Drake in doubles play; however, the Bulldogs (3-2) narrowly earned the point with wins at the top two positions.
No. 2 Doubles was decided by a 7-5 score in Drake's favor, while the third spot was knotted at 6-6 when the Bulldogs clinched the doubles point.
Drake carried that momentum into singles play where the Bulldogs secured the victory--the third in their in their last four matches.
Creighton's Ashley Ishimura was victorious at No. 1 singles, defeating Summer Brills, 6-2, 6-3.
"Our team has come a long way mentally the past few weeks and I am really proud of how we are competing," Creighton head coach Tom Lilly said. "Yesterday, it was a big win for Sam [Anderson] and today Ashley Ishimura came up with the big points.
"Doubles was very competitive at No. 2 and 3, but Drake played some great tennis when they needed," Lilly said. "We will need a solid effort tomorrow against Green Bay early in the morning, and the way our girls have come out the last two matches makes me believe we will be ready."
The Bluejays will wrap up their road trip on Sunday as they take on Wisconsin-Green Bay in a neutral-site match in Des Moines, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
