Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Baseball team hopes to continue its seven-game winning streak over the weekend as the Bluejays host Stony Brook in a three-game set beginning Friday night at 6:30 pm.
Creighton vs. Stony Brook (Series tied, 1-1)
Creighton and Stony Brook met for the first time in 2009 with Stony Brook taking that contest, while the team faced off once last season in New York.
The Seawolves took the series opener 8-2 on March 6, 2009. Last season a scheduled three-game series was reduced to a single game by weather, Creighton won that
contest 8-3.
Scouting the Seawolves (2016: 8-9, 1-1 America East)
Stony Brook has been a much stronger team at home than on the road this season. The Seawolves are 5-0 at home, but just 3-9 outside of their home park.
The Seawolves enter the weekend with a team ERA of 5.68. Stony Brook has shaken up its starter as Chad Lee will get his first start of the season on Friday.
At the plate the Seawolves are hitting .282 as a unit. Leading the way are Andruw Gazzola and Toby Handley. Gazzola has a team-high .359 average, while Handley is hitting .313.
Bluejays Exact a Little Revenge on Wildcats
With 13 victories in its last 14 contests, the Creighton Baseball team gained a measure of revenge for the lone loss in that stretch by defeating Kansas State, 5-4, on Tuesday, March 22.
Creighton has now won seven straight, with its last loss coming to those same Wildcats, 8-2, on March 9.
