Baseball Explodes for Six in the Second, Best Murrary State 9-4

The win secured a second straight series win for the Bluejays, moving Creighton to 5-3 on the season. Creighton will go for the sweep on Sunday. The loss dropped Murray State to 5-6 overall.
The Racers capitalized on an error and double by the first two hitters to bounce out to a 2-0 edge in the bottom of the first.
Creighton, however, picked up starter Matt Warren with six runs in the top of the second. After senior Reagan Fowler flew out to left to open the frame, seniors Harrison Crawford and Brett Murray drew walks to put runners on first and second. Matt Gandy followed with an RBI single through the right side to make it 2-1.
Murray State missed a chance to end the frame right there as Brennan Hammer bounced a ball to first, but the junior raced down the line to beat the relay throw to back to the bag. With runners at the corners catcher Keith Oren laced a two-run double into right-center to give the Bluejays a 3-2 lead. The next batter, junior Daniel Woodrow, ripped another ball into the gap in right-center. Woodrow raced all the way to third and scored on an RBI single from Nicky Lopez.
Before the inning was over senior Ryan Fitzgerald plated Lopez as well with an RBI single to right.
Creighton added three insurance runs in the sixth, as Oren blasted his second run-scoring double of the day into right-center.
After the rocky opening frame Warren limited Murray State to one more run (three overall) in six innings to pick up his second win (2-1) of the season. Murray State's Brandon Hick's took the loss (0-2).
Oren closed the game 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored to pace the Bluejay offense.
Creighton and Murray State concluded the three-game series at 1:00 pm.
