Men's Golf Signs Cade McCallum & Jackson Thompson

OMAHA, Neb. – Head coach Judd Cornell announced his first recruiting class on Thursday of a pair of young men that have signed to pursue their education and continue their golf careers at Creighton University.

Joining the Bluejays will be Cade McCallum (Grand Island, Neb., / Iowa Western CC) and Jackson Thompson (Sioux City, Iowa / Bishop Heelan HS).

"I'm looking forward to having Cade and Jackson join our program," said Cornell. "They are really great guys who love the game and are committed to being successful at everything they do. I have no doubt they will help the golf program and will represent Creighton in a great way."

Below is a profile on both prospects.

Cade McCallum

A native of Grand Island, Nebraska.
Will transfer from Iowa Western Community College to Creighton in January of 2020 and be eligible immediately as a sophomore.
The son of Kurt and Shirley McCallum, Cade has sisters Alexa, Brooke and Sage.
A Pre-Med major at Iowa Western who has been named to the Academic Honor Roll, Presidential Honor Roll and an Academic All-American.
Is a 2018 graduate from Grand Island Senior High, where he owned a 4.0 GPA all four years, graduated in the top five percent of his class and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Was a two-time All-State pick in Nebraska while in high school, as well as a Nebraska Junior Cup Team member.
Fired a school-record low round of 66.
Competed in the 2017 U.S. Junior Amateur at Flint Hills National.
At Iowa Western, owned a 74.7 scoring average as a freshman with three top-10 finishes and a low round of 68.
Tied for 38^th place at the NJCAA National Championship.
In the first half of his sophomore season, owns a pair of top-10 finishes and was 20^th at the National Championship Preview meet.
Semifinalist at the Nebraska Amateur Match Play Championship and finished second in the stroke play portion.
First hole-in-one came at age 11.

Jackson Thompson

Currently attends Bishop Heelan High School Sioux City, Iowa.
Son of BJ and Jeni Thompson.
Four-time all-conference pick was also named First Team all-state.
Won seven of nine meets he played in this fall as a senior, shooting par or better during each victory.
Also a member of the basketball team.
Academically, is a National Merit Semifinalist, Academic Mentor and on the Honor Roll.
Also works as an academic tutor.

He has many outstanding academic accomplishments and is a great person to be around. He has a great feel for the game, hits the ball a long ways, is very athletic and will help our team have success immediately."
