Charlie Zielinski Joins Men's Golf Recruiting Class

OMAHA, Neb. -- Skutt Catholic High School senior Charlie Zielinski is the latest addition to the Creighton men's golf recruiting class. Zielinski will enroll in the fall of 2020 and have four years of eligibility remaining.

Zielinski joins recent signees Cade McCallum and Jackson Thompson as the latest additions to the program by Judd Cornell, who is in the midst of his first season on The Hilltop.

"Charlie has a lot of drive when it comes to his golf and school which will help him fulfill his potential as a college golfer," said Cornell. "He has shown the ability to make a lot of birdies. Having that ability shows that he is capable of hitting a lot of greens which is a hallmark to great players and he putts pretty well too. I look forward to helping him."

The son of Tim and Susan Zielinski, Charlie has earned three letters in golf and two in bowling at Skutt. He was the Class B runner-up at state last year after finishing third at state as a sophomore. He was a member of the 2018 Nebraska Coaches Association Boys' Golf All-State Team and also landed a spot on the 2019 Nebraska Coaches Association Boys' Golf Super-All State Team.

Zielinksi's low round of 65 is a Skyhawks record. He was a River Cities Conference champion earlier this spring and as a sophomore was the district champion. He was also a medalist for the 2019 Nebraska Junior Golf Tour Championship and a member of the 2019 Nebraska Junior Cup Team that helped Nebraska retain the cup. Those accomplishments helped him be recognized as a NGA Fall Junior Series All-Star Team Member in both 2018 and 2019.

The Omaha product is just as adept in the classroom. Zielinski was named Academic All-River Cities Conference as a sophomore and junior. He's been a member of the Academic Honor Roll as a freshman, sophomore and junior, and last year earned his academic letter. He also picked up the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association Academic All-State Award as a junior.

Creighton returns to the course St. George, Utah, at the Pizza Hut-Pat Hicks Invitational on Feb. 10-11.
