Collins, Upton and Sakowski Shine in Baseball's 12-11 Comeback Win in 11 innings

Bluejays claim third win when trailing entering the ninth
The win lifted Creighton to 6-3 on the season, while Saint Louis fell to 6-8 overall. This was the third time in 2019 that the Bluejays entered the ninth inning trailing, yet rallied for the win.
Creighton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first on five singles and four stolen bases, highlighted by a two-run single from junior Jason Allbery. Saint Louis answered with four runs in the second and three more in the third to seize a 7-4 lead.
The Bluejays' deficit didn't last long as the offense responded with four runs on three hits and a pair of walks in the fourth. This time junior Will Robertson provided the big blow with a two-run double to right-center, while Allbery added an RBI single.
The Billiken offense responded with two runs in the sixth to lead 9-8, yet the Bluejays pulled even at 9-9 on a one-out double to left-center by Upton and a Saint Louis error.
The bottom of the seventh saw Saint Louis surge back in front, plating a pair of runs on Creighton defensive miscues.
Down 11-9 entering the ninth, pinch hitter Andrew Meggs reached on an error. Collins followed with an RBI triple to right, but remained at third with two down in the frame. Junior Jake Holton extended the game with an RBI single to right, forcing extra innings.
Entering the game with two on and one down in the eighth, Sakowski kept his squad in the game as he retired 11 of the 12 batters he faced.
In the 11th inning Collins laced a leadoff single up the middle, then Upton blasted an RBI single to left.
The Bluejays and Billikens wrap is their midweek series on Wednesday, March 13. The game has been moved up to a 12:00 pm start time in an attempt to avoid forecasted rain.
