Tucker Knaak Named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week

NEW YORK – Creighton's Tucker Knaak has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week after picking up his first collegiate win over the weekend at the UNI Invitational.

Knaak fired a 3-under 69 on Sunday to earn a two-stroke victory at the UNI Invitational at the Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Iowa. After carding a 74 in Saturday's first round, the freshman from Plainview, Neb., had a 69 in the final round, the lowest round by any player in the tournament that day. It was Knaak's first victory as a collegian, as he became the first Bluejay to win a meet since Kade Brown won the 2016 Jackrabbit Invitational.

Knaak's 143 total was the best final score by a Bluejay in a 36-hole meet since Jack Dressen's 143 at the Don Benbow Invitational on March 12-13, 2012.

This is Knaak's first BIG EAST Golfer of the Week accolade, and he's the first Creighton men's golfer to earn such an honor since Andrew McCormick on March 21, 2018.

Xavier's Mikayla Fitzpatrick was tabbed BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week after a fifth-place finish at the Edisto Island Invitational.

Knaak and the Bluejays host a rare home competition on Friday when it takes on Drake in a dual meet at Bent Tree Golf Course in Council Bluffs, Iowa that starts at 2 p.m. The BIG EAST Golf Championships Presented by Jeep return to the Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie S.C. The women's championship will be held April 19-21. The men's championship is April 26-28.
