Bluejay Baseball Battles Nebraska on Tuesday

Omaha, Neb. -- The Bluejays and Huskers continued their annual three-game midweek series on Tuesday, April 9 as Creighton heads to Lincoln for the one true road game of the season with Nebraska. The game will be televised on FS1 (Fox Sports 1) with Brandon Gaudin and Danan Hughes on the call.
Both the Bluejays and the Huskers enter the contest with RPI at 40 or better as Creighton comes in at 26 and Nebraska at 40. In addition both squads are receiving votes in the latest USA Today/Coaches Poll.

Scouting the Bluejays
Following another series win last weekend, taking two of three from Kansas State, the Bluejays approach BIG EAST play with an RPI of 26 and victories in nine of its last 12 games.
The two weekend victories over K-State displayed the efforts of ace Mitch Ragan (seven scoreless innings), while Sunday's 11-1 win showed what Creighton's offense has done for much of the season.
The Bluejays enter the week hitting .289 as a team, led by Jake Holton's .382 average, eight home runs and 30 RBI. Two-hole hitter Parker Upton is a step back at .337, while leadoff man Isaac Collins enters the week hitting .317.
On the mound Creighton has a team ERA of 5.32, led by closer Bobby Kametas' 1.74 ERA in 10 appearances. Reliever John Sakowski has emerged as Creighton's most reliable hurler with a 1.89 ERA in 12 trips to the bump.
Scouting the Huskers
Nebraska enters the second meeting with Creighton playing its best baseball of the season. The Huskers have won 13 of their last 15 games, getting off to a 7-2 start in Big Ten play.
Nebraska is hitting .286 as a team, led by Aaron Palensky with a .369 average at the plate. On the mound the Huskers have a 3.88 ERA.
In the first meeting the Huskers sent Kyle Perry to the bump, where he allowed just one run in 3.2 innings.

Creighton trails the series with the Huskers, 92-46-2. Since Ed Servais took the reigns for the Bluejays, Creighton is 16-29 against the Huskers. Creighton swept the annual three-game set with Nebraska for the first time last season. The Bluejays did take the first three of four-game series in 1989, 1990 & 1993.@ Haymarket Park
