Women's Soccer Opens Exhibition Play with 2-0 Win Over Drake

Des Moines, Iowa -- The Creighton women's soccer delivered an impressive 2-0 win over Drake in the Bluejays' first exhibition match of the 2019 season on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

Playing three 30-minute periods against the Bulldogs, the Bluejays scored in each of the first two frames and held the Bulldogs at bay in the third session.

Junior Juelle Love put the Bluejays on the board first, taking a pass from senior Taryn Jakubowski, then sending the ball into the back of the net in the 20th minute (19:31).

Freshman Skylar Heinrich stepped forward in the second period, pushing Creighton's lead to 2-0. Heinrich finished a pass from fellow freshman Emma Yackley in the 52nd minute (51:48).

The Bluejays will play their second and final exhibition contest on Saturday at Morrison Stadium as Creighton hosts South Dakota in a match set to kickoff at 12:00 pm.
