Jays split four sets in first look at 2019 team

OMAHA, Neb. -- The No. 18 Creighton Volleyball team saw its annual Blue-White match end in a 2-2 tie on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The White team won the first set 25-20 before the Blue team responded with 25-21 and 28-26 victories. The match ended with White claiming a 25-21 victory to even the match.

Senior Madelyn Cole set for the Blue team, and freshman Ally Van Eekeren quarterbacked the White squad, but all but one other player saw time on both squads at one time or another as head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth and staff tinkered with a multitude of line-up combinations.

The match included members of the 2019 squad, as well as recent alums Marysa Wilkinson, Samantha Bohnet and Jaali Winters.

Stats for the match were not immediately available.

Creighton will wrap up the exhibition season on Friday at 6 p.m. with a road match at Iowa State. The regular-season starts on August 30 at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., when the Bluejays take on No. 2 Nebraska.
