Shaun Campbell Named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week

Bluejay junior won the Big O Classic on Tuesday
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton junior Shaun Campbell was named BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, Oct., 5, after winning the Big O Classic on Tuesday.
Campbell had an eagle and four birdies in his first seven holes on Monday en route to a collegiate-low round of 66 that was tied for fourth-best in program history. The Tauranga, New Zealand native followed that with back-to-back rounds of even par (72) to hold off a field of 93 competitors with a wire-to-wire victory.
Campbell's victory is Creighton's ninth individual title in a tournament featuring three or more teams and 20 or more golfers in the past 20 years, but first in any event with more than 61 contestants. The victory by Campbell helped Creighton place fifth among 14 teams.
The tournament was held at The Club at Indian Creek in the Omaha suburb of Elkhorn on a Par 72 course that measured 7,498 yards and featured 14 teams.
Campbell is the first Creighton man named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week since Nate Vontz on Oct. 6, 2021.
The Bluejays close the fall season on Oct. 9-11 at the Carolina Cup in Spartanburg, S.C.
