Bluejay Men's Soccer Returns Home to Face Villanova on Saturday

Omaha, Neb. -- Bluejay Men's Soccer returns to Morrison Stadium as Creighton faces Villanova on Saturday, October 1st in a BIG EAST matchup at 6:30 p.m.
The Bluejays and Wildcats have met nine times previous, including twice last season. Creighton holds a 6-3-0 advantage, including a 3-2-0 edge at Morrison Stadium. The Wildcats, however, won the last meeting (2-1 at in Omaha). It was the only time the two sides met in the BIG EAST Tournament.

Scouting Creighton (3-2-3, 0-1-1 BIG EAST)
In Creighton's three victories the Bluejays have posted 18 goals, delivering three goals in each half of those wins. However, in the other five matches the Bluejays have combined to tally seven combined goals. Creighton has scored at least once in each contest.
Senior Duncan McGuire leads the Bluejay offense with 14 points on six goals and two assists, while sophomores Jackson Castro and Owen O'Malley each five goals. Sophomore Giorgio Probo leads the BIG EAST with seven assists.
Senior goalkeeper Paul Kruse has been spectacular with 22 saves in seven
matches, including a career-high nine against the Hoyas on Saturday,
September 24. Kruse has limited opponents to 10 goals in 645 minutes.

Villanova enters the week on a high as the Wildcats have won two of its last three matches, posting a draw with conference favorite Providence in the third contest.
Before boarding a plane to Nebraska, Villanova hosts Penn State on Wednesday late afternoon.
The Wildcats have scored prolifically in their three victories, posting 4-0 wins over Northwestern (Sept. 5) and St. John's (Sept. 23) as well as a 3-0 victory over New Jersey Institute of Technology (Sept. 14).
Lyam MacKinnon leads the way for Villanova with seven points on three goals and one assist, while Balthi Saunders also enters the week with seven points via two goals and three assists.
In goal the Wildcats have sent Kent Dickey into net for every second this season.
Kruse Dominant in Loss at Georgetown
Despite being tagged with the loss (2-1) at Georgetown on Saturday, September 24, senior Paul Kruse may have delivered his best performance with a career-high nine saves. Kruse faced 21 shots, conceding a pair of goals on passes within the penalty box that were beyond his control.
O'Malley Held at Bay for Second Time In Eight Games
Prior to Saturday's loss, sophomore midfielder Owen O'Malley had tallied at least one point in six of the Bluejays first seven games of the season. O'Malley's 13 points is second most for Creighton, contributing five goals and three assists. O'Malley was also kept off the scoresheet in the Sept. 9, 1-1 draw with No. 2 Stanford.
Wildcats a Historically Tough Matchup
Despite leading the all-time series with Villanova 6-3, seven of those nine meetings have been decided by one goal. Two matches have seen the teams split by two goals. Only one game was decided by 3+ goals, a 5-1 win for the Bluejays on Oct. 24, 2015.Â
